Theater Huntsville Brings a Heartwarming Play to the Stage

Enjoy an incredible night of award-winning theater as Theater Huntsville presents The Diviners! This riveting production is coming to the stage at the Von Braun Center Playhouse for a limited run of performances, so make sure you see it live onstage.

Winner of the American College Theatre Festival, this marvelously theatrical play is the story of a disturbed young man and his friendship with a disenchanted preacher in southern Indiana in the early 1930s. When the boy was young, he almost drowned, and this trauma and the loss of his mother in the same accident has left him deathly afraid of water. The preacher, set on breaking away from a long line of Kentucky family preachers, works as a mechanic for the boy’s father.

Revolving around both characters’ need to face their fears and challenges, the play takes audiences along for a journey of self-realization as the preacher grapples with pressures to step into his role for the preacher-less town, all while he tries to help persuade the boy to face his fear of water and bathe. The Diviners is a humorous, beautiful, and tragic story that every theater lover will enjoy, and surprisingly speaks of many present-day concerns with gentle wisdom. It’s only showing at the Von Braun Center Playhouse, so mark your calendar for this special performance!
