Come witness the majestic beauty of one of the most fascinating species of birds that winters in Alabama, the crane! You can see these stunning creatures up close and learn all about their unique traits at the Festival of the Cranes, a special event happening at the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge.

Join in the fun and take a peek at the Refuge’s winter residents. You can see more than 14,000 Sandhill cranes along with several pairs of Whooping cranes at the festival, and there are plenty of exciting activities that will teach you interesting facts about the species. Festival-goers of all ages can take part in the birding workshops and nature walks, kid's activities, sponsor booths, and live raptors on display at this wonderful event.
